That’s how I would describe the Jimmyjane Afterglow Bourbon Scented Massage Candle. It’s not as harsh as real bourbon smells, but it’s intriguing and masculine and invokes a mood of sensuality when lit.
Candles are a vice for me. I have too many, I spend too much on them, but I tend to have one burning in my room most of the time. This one has quickly become my absolute favorite.
Everything about this candle is sophisticated and elegant. The box has a minimalist design and there is really nothing about it that reveals it’s purpose as a sensual massage aide. The candle is 5oz and burns up to 42 hours.
The candle, encased in a small, frosted-glass cube, comes with an elegant box of wooden matches and an applicator brush. I actually found I preferred not to use the brush, opting instead to gently tip the cube to pour some of the melted “wax” into the palm of my hand. The wax melts at a fairly low temperature and I did not find it to be uncomfortably hot in my hand, but should you be sensitive to temperature, the brush is nice to have for dipping and letting the wax cool just slightly before applying it to the skin. It doesn’t take very long at all, about 15-20 minutes, to get a decent amount of melted wax to use. Let it burn longer if you will use it for a full-body massage. Then blow out your can blow it out and pour or dip the brush to apply to the skin.
The wax. Really I hesitate to even call it wax. It melts into a high-slip, spa-grade massage oil that feels wonderful on your skin. After initially using this candle with a partner, I enjoyed the smell and feel so much that I burn it on my night stand almost nightly and rub the oil into my hands.
I love this candle and plan to splurge on it in several different scents, although I really do love the unique bourbon scent and will definitely need another one soon! The only downside is the size. I would absolutely buy this candle at twice the size.
